The most important facts and events:
The band was established in April 1996. It is the date when Paprika Korps played their first concert in Opole. In June 1997 band decided to record their songs in a studio near Poznan. The time beetwen 1997 and 1999 abounded in many local concerts near Opole. In June 1999, after 3 years of playing, band decided to record their 9 songs in professional studio. The recording was directed by Sławek Mizerkiewicz, the guitarist of a famous polish alternative band Pidżama Porno.
In fact, the last date was the most important for band. The recording was sent to few underground record companies and all of them were interested in publishing it.. Finally band decided to choose W MOICH OCZACH - the biggest alternative reggae company in Poland. The first album "Kolejny Krok"("The next step") gathered many positive reviews and gave an opportunity to play a lot of concerts and to take part in the biggest reggae festivals in Poland as "Africa is hungry" in Torun or "Winter Reggae" in Gliwice and some big concerts in Germany like "Back to the roots festival" in Dresden.
In August'2000 Paprika Korps played first tour in Poland(14 concerts). The band played 32 concerts in 2000, which is a very good "score" for Polish alternative reggae band.
Over the four years Paprika Korps has maintained their rich and deep original sound. The music of Paprika Korps is described as an interesting, melodious reggae with a big dose of powerful, hard riddims.
The second album of the group, which is called "Przede wszystkim muzyki" was published on 10 August 2001. Eleven new powerful songs were recorded in Studio Czad near Poznan. There is a special bonus on the CD - 4 remixes of Paprika's songs made by most famous polish dub producents.
The song "Facts of life" became power-play in the only alternative polish radio-station RADIOSTACJA.
In the end of 2001 Paprika played first big tour in Germany, which was organized by Impreuna, anti-fascism organization.
After publishing second cd Paprika Korps decided to play 3 tours in 2002, when we have besides Poland visited Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Czech Rep., Denmark, Finland, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and Belgium.
Paprika Korps created their own label and agency called Karrot Kommando. In the beginning KK will invite friendly bands to Poland and in future it's going to publish new Paprika's album.
2003 is the year of huge tours. First one in spring, including Balkans, with Bosnia & Hercegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Romania and Hungary. Than the summer came with the longest "west-east" tour. We drove from Poland to Moscow, than through Finland up to Arctic Circle, than to Belgium and flew to Ireland.
After that we needed small break. We were preparing new songs, playing less concerts than usuall, so we could record new songs in Studio Q in december'2003. New album, called "Telewizor" was ready in march. CD was published by Karrot Kommando and W Moich Oczach. The album contains 11 songs! Horn section in one song was recorded by not existing now legendary german ska band Yellow Umbrella. Title song "Telewizor" contaied exclusive samples from first anty-american manifestation in Bagdad, recorded "live" by DubMayorYama. CD includes two extra remixes made by Acivator and doc.
